Job Description Announcement: Program Director

 

Title: Program Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Positions supervised: college interns, volunteers

Hours: Full time, salaried, some travel required

Salary: $30,000

Summary: The Program Director oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of all ongoing programs including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, controlling, and evaluating youth program activities. Current programs include youth leadership, Bible study, photography and oral history, and kids camps.

Qualifications:

  •  A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school
  •  2 years experience working with children and youth
  •  Technological proficiency, including Word, Powerpoint, and online databases  
  •  Strong project management skills for managing youth projects to show measureable results, program growth, and success
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail; the ability to use these skills to communicate effectively with youth, staff, parents, and community partners
  •  Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Delta Hands for Hope’s mission
  •  Grant writing experience is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong comprehensive leadership skills

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Director performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:

1.    Plan the programs

o   Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization

o   Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization

o   Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program

o   Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement

o   Develop funding proposals for the program to ensure the continuous delivery of services, including through grants and donations

2. Organize the programs

o   Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization

o   Develop forms and records to document program activities

o   Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the participants of the program for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization

3.   Staff the programs

o   Engage volunteers for appropriate program activities using established volunteer management practices

o   Ensure that all program volunteers and interns receive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the programs

o   Work with group leaders to plan and coordinate projects for volunteer groups

o   Supervise college students, including CBF Student.GO interns

4.    Lead the programs

o   Ensure all volunteers and interns receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards

o   Communicate with children, parents, and community members to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program

o   Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency

5.    Control the programs

o   Write reports on the program for management and for funders

o   Ensure that the program operate within the approved budget

o   Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures

o   Ensure financial reports and supporting documentation for funders are prepared as outlined in funding agreements

o   Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks

o   Monitor the program activities on a regular basis and conduct an annual evaluation according to the program evaluation framework

o   Report evaluation findings to the Executive Director and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate

6.    Volunteer Coordinator

o   Serve as primary contact for outside churches and other partners engaged in the work of DHH. Develop high-quality mission experiences that connect outside and local partners for long-term relationship building.

o   Maintain healthy and mutually beneficial covenant relationships with outside partner churches.

o   Coordinate the Delta Hands for Hope kids camp, a summer missions experience for volunteers, including kids camps, construction projects, miscellaneous other projects, and volunteer logistics. 

7.   Other

o   Other duties as assigned
